Do not mistake me when I say this, as I do admire the structure and fierce edge of Rousteing's designs for Balmain, I just have begun to feel that each collection is beginning to look similar to the last. As for me each collection's designs shares a similar shape and structure to previous collections. However maybe this is Rousteing's intention when designing each collection, to reinforce the Balmain signature shape and style?
The H&M X Balmain advert was released as of yesterday and I hate to say it, but I wasn't impressed by this attempt at marketing. The advert does not scream luxury to me, but it rather has a 'cheap' feel about it brought by the tacky futuristic theme (which could've been made far more appealing by losing Rousteing's position behind a glass touch control screen for the whole advert).
The main focus of the advert is obviously Kendall Jenner, the model of the Kardashian family who are so heavily involved with Balmain. This could be argued to be a obvious but clever choice on Olivier Rousteing's part, as her social media presence is so great, by using her to model this collection it will be likely to attract many to watch the video.
I also did not enjoy the setting nor the dance concept of the video, by which Kendall Jenner and her group of dancers, proceed to compete in various dance battles with individuals whilst on a train. Dance can often be a way to demonstrate and display the design of a piece of clothing, whether that be the fluidity of a floor length gown, or the fierceness of a shoulder padded jacket, however I feel that the dance aspect here did not benefit Balmain's designs here at all, but again only made it seem cheap and a bit 'try hard' in my opinion.

Despite this criticial view of the advert, I do in fact like some of Rousteing's designs for H&M, and am excited to see how bloggers will be styling various pieces from the collection.
Thankyou for reading,
